Studio — about Nova Origem Arquitectos
Nova Origem Arquitectos comes out of the meeting of two paths — Tânia’s and Manuel’s. A route built up over time, through study, work and the experiences that shaped the way we think about architecture.
We take on every stage of the project, from the first idea through planning and construction, using drawing and three-dimensional modelling as tools for understanding, deciding and explaining.
We work closely with our clients, holding design and construction together continuously and exactly. Each project looks for a balance between the place, the material and the people who live in it. Our work is both residential and commercial, with a particular focus on housing, refurbishment and new build, and mostly in Lisbon, central Portugal and the Algarve.

Architect
Tânia (1989) is from the Algarve.
She completed the five-year Integrated Master’s in Architecture at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa (2009–2015).
In 2014 she took a student placement at Ensamble Studio in Madrid, where she began to explore the communication of architecture through image and three-dimensional modelling, and worked on research and exhibition models.
She began her professional practice in Lisbon at NM Architects, Nuno Morgado’s studio, and later, in London, worked on refurbishment projects at atelier DB, David Bell’s studio.
Over the years she has worked across different areas of architecture, from concept design through to technical design, as well as in managing and coordinating architectural teams and in supervising work on site, in both private and public settings. That range of experience, including work with Batalha Town Council, has built an approach that runs across the whole of architectural practice.
In 2021 she co-founded the studio NOA — Nova Origem Arquitectos, where she works on projects through all their stages, with particular attention to the conceptual side, to representation and to managing the process.
Architect
Manuel (1991) is from Alcobaça.
He completed the Integrated Master’s in Architecture at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa (2009–2017).
He began practising as an architect in 2017, working freelance, and in 2018 joined amb-arquitectos, Mafalda Batalha’s studio, for the professional traineeship required by the Ordem dos Arquitectos, the Portuguese Architects’ Association, staying until 2022.
Through that period he worked on every stage of the design, with a particular focus on technical design and site supervision.
He has added training in BIM and Archicad to his practice, along with three-dimensional modelling, reinforcing an exact, detailed approach to developing a design.
In 2021 he co-founded the studio NOA — Nova Origem Arquitectos, where he works on projects through all their stages, from the conceptual side to construction precision, detailing and design coordination.
